Air Canada to implement blockchain based travel distribution platform to their system
A report published on October 24 states, Canada’s number one airline company Air Canada recently declared its participation travel distribution system based entirely on the blockchain, which is exclusively developed by Winding Tree, a Swiss blockchain startup.
The leading airline company ‘Air Canada’ was founded in 1937, which delivers charter passenger and cargo transportation services. The company experienced a 7.3 percent hike in customer demand since 2016, almost holding 38.1 million passengers onboard in 2017, suggests the 2017 annual report of the company.
Air Canada officially signed a letter to willingly indulge in an open-source travel distribution platform which is completely decentralized and created with the help of Winding Tree. By adopting and implementing the new blockchain based platform, the firm looks forward to precisely enhance the sale and distribution of all products used for air travel and provide direct access to inventory from suppliers.
Keith Wallis, Director at Air Canada for Global Distribution further added his opinion on this project, “Air Canada completely understands and recognizes the crucial importance of implementing this next-generation tech. We further plan to merge Air Canada’s Direct API with Winding Tree’s blockchain system, enabling our tech-savvy users to gain direct access to our content from the platform.”
Most of the airline companies across the globe are eventually integrating blockchain based tech to their operational department, in order to provide a delightful travel experience to its consumers and enhance supply chain/logistics. Earlier during this month Air France-KLM, a European based airline company also joined hands with Winding Tree to cut down on their average cost by adopting the latest tech.
The airline ‘Air France-KLM’ strongly believes that implementing this blockchain based tech to their system will be a good investment and improve customer satisfaction, which is gradually advantageous for suppliers through diminishing the number of intermediaries.
